Book of Emma, pg 6

yes,

a third post this crazily hot weekend, and another page from the slowly filling up 'book of emma' featuring the sketchbook debut of fergus the dog, also known as baron ferqus de montmartre the doggerel dog. . .

strangeness. fairly sketchy, and emm came out looking a bit like rachel mcadams (no bad thing, because SHE'S gorgeous), but i like it a lot :)

pencil and a bit off pitt artists marker pen as usual. i should have those items welded to my hands, theyr'e all i ever draw with. . .

  1. Now *those* are my boobs! :P

I think you keep making them too big because you're so used to drawing girls - girlfriends even? - with big heaving bosoms: Shapely. Which I'm, so not.

Teeny tiny ones must be harder to draw, no?

Definitely a bit like Rachel McAdams, but as you say she is gorgeous so no complaints here! ;)

I <3 the way you draw Fergus! You should draw him more and stop saying "I can't draw dogs" and pouting.

I love this sketchbook. Every page, Iain. :)

  2. 'big heaving bosoms'? what is this, 'mills & boone'? (speaking of which, we once had to do a mills & boone bbook cover in art college. . . *shakes head in disgrace*) . . .

i don't know, i think - i can't believe we're discussing this seriously - smaller breasts ARE harder to draw if we're talking about CLOTHED, certainly more difficult where shading's concerned - it's easier to shade a curve than something straighter and less round, so it goes without saying that the same would be said for, erm, yes. . .

    i think i'm getting better, though. . . 'practise' and all that. . .

    *scratches head and adjusts glasses*

fergus. . . is just weird because i can't draw a serious image of him. no matter what, he comes out looking like THAT. he's far too cartoony for his own good :P

  3. You get so flustered so easily! The amount of naked ladies *you've* drawn!!!

It's a valid conversation and as you said yourself,"it's easier to shade a curve than something straighter and less round."

I'm just giving you all kinds of challenges, amn't I? :P

  4. I'm definitely seeing Rachel McAdams, but why is she standing next to Alistair McGowan?

  7. Awesome drawing. I love little Fergus. We talk for our dogs all the time - I don't know if you do. The little one insults us constantly and demands things like paper, small electronics, and ice cubes (for chewing on). The big one talks in the voice and manner of Owen Wilson.

  8. bron - he IS impossible to draw without him looking comical. granted this is the first attempt i've actually made at drawing a dog for about 20 years. . .

i like to think fergus talks like rex harrison :P
